CHILD WELFARE

Children and youth in the child welfare system are some of the most vulnerable members of our society. Often experiencing significant trauma and/or loss and fighting for their ability to self-direct care amid heavily regulated and segmented bureaucracies. Moreover, providers who serve children in the foster care system are underfunded resulting in resources being stretched to the extreme, just to meet the basic needs of the kiddos in their care. The child welfare system provides unique challenges in guardianship, service access, coordination of care and is by its very nature a form of active, continuous trauma for the children its designed to serve. These variables create a complex environment for meeting the physical, behavioral health, educational and safety needs of children and youth.

Our founder was birthed to an adopted mother, had foster siblings throughout his childhood, has an adopted brother and has been an advocate for children who are in and graduate from the child welfare system since the beginning of his career. Hess III Consulting has spearheaded innovative models in the child welfare system since our inception and continues to work tirelessly to meet the needs of children and youth in foster care.
