America’s behavioral health crisis has been catapulted to the forefront of American culture which has resulted in rapid increase in demand for behavioral health services. This increased demand has been met with significant workforce shortages, stigmatization and politization of high-profile incidents (e.g. mass shootings, suicide, overdoses, homelessness etc.) which further dilute the effectiveness of evidence-based interventions for very preventable and treatable conditions.
